The latest project comes amid rising apprehension about the UK's exposure to internet outages and cyber-attacks.

Leadership and Oversight

A former commander of the UK's air and space warfare centre will deliver recommendations next month on how the government-funded institute can optimally help the scale of government AI ambitions in defense, national security and information gathering.

Operational Restructuring

The center's head, a former Amazon UK boss, confirmed that nearly eighty separate studies at the 440-staff institute have been closed, spun out or completed because they fail to match with the fresh focus.

Organizational Difficulties

The center has faced organizational challenges since last year as workers demonstrated against changes, culminating in a collection of workers submitting a formal grievance to the appropriate oversight organization.
