Fans Call for Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the pop star are urging that a person who leaped a barrier and touched the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or removed from Singapore.
A circulating clip reveals the Australian man pushing past photographers and rushing toward Grande while the performers proceeded down a yellow carpet accompanied by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the event by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being arrested", though official papers revealed that he was due to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Pattern of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes recordings of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last December.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is obviously a legal violation," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Express Concern Over the Star's Past Trauma
Many fans accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the end of her 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote one more message on Instagram.
A number of fans also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals requested digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In videos circulating online, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore mall, including a number who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.
The film, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End production Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two distinct witches.
The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of last year in the UK, and received ten Academy Award nods, securing two for outstanding attire and production design.
