Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the tragic demises of renowned film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence residence on Sunday.

A Discovery

According to a report referencing a confidential source, a therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

When she went into the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The confidential informant questioned several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.

Additionally pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation also extends to descriptions of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
