Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory of course but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot lamented recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period like this with performances this poor.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
