The Lionesses v the Chinese team – Women’s Exhibition Fixture

Preamble

Welcome everyone to the exhibition game between the English side and China at London’s Wembley. The match is set to be a thriller with the current Euro titleholders taking on the holders of the Asian Cup title.

The iconic Wembley is packed for the occasion, which will see Fran Kirby celebrated pre-match after her departure from the England squad before the Euro tournament this past summer.

The team news will be revealed soon, but there was a last minute squad update for England. On Friday, the goalkeeper Khiara Keating withdrew from the squad with a slight knock, and so ex-first choice Ellie Roebuck has been added to the squad.

With Hannah Hampton out of action, it will be notable to find out who England manager Sarina Wiegman selects in goal. Those details along with further updates are incoming before the opening whistle at 5.30pm GMT.

Squad Updates

The team news is in. Anna Moorhouse will be the goalkeeper for England in the non-presence of Hannah Hampton and Khiara Keating.

England: Moorhouse, Bronze, Charles, Walsh, Le Tissier, Morgan, Mead, Stanway, Russo, Toone, Hemp.

Substitutes: Hings, Baggaley, Kendall, Wubben-Moy, Beever-Jones, Kelly, Kearns, Park, Blindkilde Brown, Roebuck, Clinton, Denton, Fisk, Godfrey.

We are awaiting the squad from China now; once it is available, I will provide the update.

Leadership Role

Maunch Appearance

This evening’s match will be Anna Moorhouse’s debut for England. She was a part of the Euro-winning side who won this past summer, but she remained on the bench with Hannah Hampton in the number one shirt.
