Trump Calls Families of Attacked Military Soldiers to the White House

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Call

The president explained he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Support

Community members gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist public safety in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that educators wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her alma mater, stated to the media. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”

Funeral details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Measures and Government Changes

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The incident led the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and halt issuing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey said on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had fortitude,” he addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
