Trump's Organization Sought to Bring In Nearly 200 Workers on Work Permits in 2025

The former president’s corporate entity increased its recruitment of foreign workers on short-term work permits this year, while his administration was placing obstacles for other companies attempting to do the same, a report published recently claimed.

Based on information from the federal labor department, the Trump Organization aimed to bring in at least nearly 200 foreign workers in 2025 for temporary positions at the US president’s Florida property, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The quantity of applications for H-2A and H-2B visas for staff including waitstaff, clerks, cleaning staff, kitchen staff and farm workers was the record submitted by the company, and increased from over 120 in the previous term, when his presidency ended.

It was also the fifth instance in 10 years that the former president had sought to bring in more than 100 overseas workers for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, according to labor statistics.

The disclosure coincides with a crackdown on legal immigration by his administration that has involved the implementation of a substantial charge on H1-B visas; increased review of the activities of the 55 million people who possess US visas; and tighter regulations for international scholars and journalists.

In total, the business aimed to hire 566 overseas workers over the five years Trump has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Significantly, Trump was criticized by some in the GOP this period for comments justifying the need for overseas employees when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill particular roles.

“You can’t just say a nation is coming in, going to spend billions to construct a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start making their defense systems. It doesn’t work that effectively,” he told a host after it was implied that foreign workers undercut the pay of US workers.

The White House refused a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not provide an answer to an request for information.
